October in a Nutshell

Mid October, Alf’s parent flew out our way for a visit.  We went to the Toronto Minitaure show (1/12th scale doll house miniatures) because, well it’s an awesome show….and Alf’s Mom has been miniaturing for many years.  Alf’s Dad helped us start our kitchen renovations by adding upper cupboards and a new range hood.

We went to the Stratford festival again this year.   We went to see Tom as Puck.           (I attended the University of Saskatchewan’s Theatre program with him…..ah good times good times….) He was once again…STELLAR!!!

Merlin episode 5

warning…spoilers!

So I can’t help myself….I continue to watch Merlin on CTV at 8 pm on Sunday nights…. a lovely griffin was the nemsis of the day… I found it laughable that when Authur was fighting the griffin and he fell backward and was vulnerable to attack… all of the other knights  drew back instead of lurching forward to protect him….am I missing something? Is there some sort of medieval law that if a man falls…he should die honorably by the beast, alone without help? Then…argh!!! it makes no sense that when it is revealed that Lancelot killed the griffin, that Uther did not instantly jail and subsequently sentence him to death for being a warlock…for Gaius insisted that the beast was created by magic and could only be killed by magic….( Lancelot isn’t a warlock…Merlin was there in the shadows…just making it look like Lancelot killed the griffin….and subsequently…it would make Lancelot look like a warlock…what is Merlin thinking???!!!???)

Merlin

More of a T.V. show review than a movie….  (warning…spoilers) with great anticipation I watched Merlin, NBC’s new series.  The first episode was ok, the evil witch was evil enough….I wish they had 2 different people playing the old/young role for her…the makeup looked… like makeup… they aired the next episode in the very next hour…..second episode disappointing in that the second snake bite was frustratingly predictable…and then when Merlin ran down to the tournament area to reveal Knight Valiant as dastardly……he waited entirely too long, risking Authur’s life and limb before he decided to chant his incantation….I couldn’t help but yell at Merlin…”what are you waiting for!!” …..it was a little emotional for me….
I LOVE ARTHURIAN LEGEND but overall I’m not sure if there is a character that is intriguing enough to hook me in and watch the remainder of the series…. ……whazzahp wid dat?

The Other End of the Line

When I brought back my movies to my local video store….(shout out to Video 99….a mom and pop shop located in the building I used to have my studio in…..25 milling road right downtown Hespeler)  and I gave them a review of  “outsourced” they suggested a similar movie for me to check out….also a romantic comedy about a call center in India.

This one even though it starred Jesse Metcalf was disappointing… it had the typical mistaken identity ..oh I’ve got to go along with it now… eventually being discovered plot…. bleh….really it’s too bad that Jesse had to follow the lame script….. it’s better if you just turn off the sound and enjoy eye candy.

Outsourced

Alfie and I rented a charming little movie called “Outsourced” about a guy who is sent to India to oversee a call center.  Delightful and quirky, this little comedy was a pleasant surprise.
